[Fitness Log] Planche Progress

Isometric Holds I: L-sits & Tucked Holds

I’m currently out of powerlifing training because of a hip flexor injury (or possibly sacroiliac joint pain) from overdoing front squats.

So, I’m just doing mainly calisthenics while and reassessing my gymnastics movements while I rehab my hip.

The tucked planche hold variations are some progressions that have helped me with me with my straddle since it puts emphasis on straight arm and shoulder strength. But before I’ve ever went to any actual planche progressions when I first started out in my planche training, I first started with L-set holds.

L-sit holds were the easiest when I started out but the hardest part was holding them long enough. It’s a good progression when learning the planche since it puts emphasis on the straightening of your arms.

I try to hold L-sits for 20-30 seconds for 2 sets as a warm up, then I go on to do variations of tucked planches (tucked & straight back) and hold those for the same amount of time (for at least 20 seconds).

I hope to some get my straddle up again.

Or going to work sick because taking a day off means rent doesn’t get paid.

The absolute truth. Both of these statements

I had a splitting earache for five days because it would have taken literally more money than I had—somewhere around the order of two or three times as much money as I had—to be seen by a doctor without insurance. Any doctor. Even by an emergency room doctor. My healthcare options were ‘home remedies’ or ‘thousand dollar loan from parents who don’t really have that money either’.

If that had been Ebola I’d have infected dozens of people—and I live in the kind of neighborhood where no one can afford a day off work, plus my roommate’s in college and god knows students in this country are already loaded down with too much debt to be able to handle hospital bills… This system is completely fucked.
